Why You Should Format Your Storage
Formatting isn’t just about deleting files; it resets the file system to ensure your camera can write data efficiently. I recommend formatting your cards:
✈️ Before a major trip to ensure you have 100% space available. ⚠️ If you encounter an “SD Card Error” message. 🗓️ Periodically to keep the file structure clean and fast.
Internal Storage vs. MicroSD Card
The Osmo Action 6 allows you to switch between storage locations in the settings. Here is the difference:
🏠 Internal Storage: Great for backup or when you forget your card! It holds about 50GB. ⚡ MicroSD Card: This is your primary storage. Since the Action 6 shoots high-bitrate 4K video, I highly recommend using a fast card like the Kingston Canvas Go Plus (links below) to avoid recording failures.
How to Access the Format Menu
If you are looking for the setting, here is the quick path to get there:
- 👇 Swipe down on the rear screen to access the Menu.
- ⚙️ Tap the Gear Icon (System Settings).
- 📂 Scroll down to Storage.
- 🗑️ Select either “Format Internal Storage” or “Format SD Card.”
🚨 WARNING: This will permanently erase all your footage! Please make sure you have backed up your videos to a computer 💻 or phone 📱 before hitting that confirm button.
