How to Reset All Camera Settings on the Canon M50 Mark II 📷

Are you trying to factory reset your Canon M50 Mark II but can’t find the option in the menu? You are not alone! Many users get frustrated looking for the “Clear Settings” button because it often completely disappears from the menu depending on how your camera is set up.

The Missing Menu Mystery 🕵️‍♂️

If you have looked through every page of the Setup menu (the wrench icon) and still can’t find the reset option, it isn’t because your camera is broken. It is likely just hidden based on your current settings.

The “Mode Dial Trick” ⚙️

To bring that menu back, you need to use what I call the “Mode Dial Trick.” It is incredibly simple. Just turn your physical mode dial on top of the camera to a manual or semi-manual mode (like M, Av, or Tv).

To reveal the hidden “Clear all camera settings” option, use the “Mode Dial Trick” by turning the dial on top of your Canon M50 Mark II to a manual or semi-manual mode.

Once you have done that, if you go back into the menu, you will see that the Clear settings option has magically reappeared!

Restoring Factory Defaults 🔄

Once the menu is visible, you can select Clear all camera settings to wipe your custom configurations and return the camera to the state it was in when you first bought it. This is a crucial step if you have messed up a setting and can’t figure out how to fix it, or if you are preparing to sell your camera to a new owner.
