If you have been using Google Chrome for a while, you might have noticed that the home button is not there by default. While it used to be a standard feature, Google now keeps it hidden to maintain a cleaner look. However, for many of us, having that one-click shortcut to our favorite homepage is essential for productivity. ๐
In this guide, I will show you the quickest way to enable the home button using the new Customize Chrome settings.
Why the Home Button is Useful ๐ป
The home button allows you to instantly return to your designated “start page” without having to type a URL or open a new tab. It is a simple navigation hack that can save you time throughout your browsing day.
How to Enable the Home Button in Chrome ๐ ๏ธ
Follow these simple steps to get your navigation icon back:
- Open a New Tab: The easiest way to access the correct menu is to click the plus (+) sign at the top of your browser to open a brand new tab. โ
- Select Customize Chrome: Look at the very bottom right hand corner of your screen. Click on the button labeled Customize Chrome. ๐๏ธ
- Open the Toolbar Menu: A side panel will appear on the right. Scroll down or look for the option that says Toolbar and click on it. ๐ง
- Toggle the Home Button: Under the Navigation section, you will see a toggle switch for Home. Simply click that switch so it turns blue. ๐
